About Katrina

As a Doula, I believe women deserve to have a positive birth experience.  Women play an active role in bringing their babies into this world. I believe my role is to support, give her the information and tools she desires as she defines her goals for her birth.  I will also provide support when or if her plan changes, ensuring that decisions are made with the highest regard for informed consent.  I am a Doula because I believe that birth matters to mothers, their babies and society as a whole.  Because birth matters, I hope to make each woman feel supported, listened to, and empowered by their experience. I am also a Operation Special Delivery participating Doula.

I am a proud wife and mother to our 4 children: Caleb(8), Sarah Rogue(5), and Lorelei Grace (2) and our newest addition, Meredith.  I had incredibly positive birth experiences (all VERY different) which led me to my desire to see that other women, with support and encouragement, could experience a positive experience in the way they define what that experience could, would or should be.

I recently "paused" by education.  We moved to the lovely city of Fredericksburg,Virginia! I plan to continue my education and finish my bachelors degree. As an undergrad, I have been able to do extensive research projects on childbirth, motherhood and childhood.  My birth experience with Caleb (in Lich, Germany) gave me a greater curiosity for how childbirth, motherhood and childhood is defined and thus experienced in different countries around the world.  I seem to always be reading a book in these related fields in addition to my required reading lists!
